review 1: Very sad true story about a girl who is abused at home from a young age and then goes on to be tricked into prostitution in Amsterdam. Like a few others, I have doubts that this particular story is 100% true, but I guess it doesn't matter - I believe things like this do happen. Something in the way this is related is a little off and doesn't quite ring true. Or maybe it's just uncomfortable to believe so much awful stuff could happen to one person. Either way, it's sad reading and maybe will make people a bit more cautious about accepting overseas job offers which are too good to be true. Definitely it sounds like prostitution should be monitored more closely - particularly the very young girls from different countries. More should be done to help ... morethem.
review 2: This is the story of a young girl who following a traumatic childhood heads to Amsterdam for what she imagines will be her fresh start. On arriving in Amsterdam he is kidnapped and forced into a life of prostitution and drug abuse.Another book that was really quite harrowing but I am glad that I have read. I suppose it is just naivety on my part but you never think that the problem of white slavery is so close to home. It was such a sad story.I personally think that all these stories should be read by as many people as possible so I would recommend this to anyone. less

I am sure this woman went through a lot, but a lot of the details in the book just don't add up.

Worth reading although, I'm never keen on any original book that has a follow-up.
