review 1: This sequel is better than the first book. However, it does take quite a long time to get started, and it was only about 500 pages in that it wasn't tedious. I think this book could have been better if it were shorter, and didn't jump around so much between times, it was sometime...

review 1: I liked this book a great deal. It is a slow read, but a fairly rewarding one. It really is like one of the blurbs say it is--Austen/Bronte + magic. But also there is intrigue, politics, mysterious origins, and a secret order of magicians. Don't read this looking for fast action ...
