review 1: Informative book that upped my motivation and desire for leaning into my budding career. Although I was already aware of some of the inequities that women and people of color face in the workplace, there were a number of experimental studies, statistics, and stories presented in Lean In for Graduates that opened my eyes to additional aspects of gender and racial inequality. Reading this book has affected the way I think about relationships with male and female colleagues as well as my own professional attitude and behavior, hopefully for the better!Although not all of Sandberg's points resonated with me—probably because I am more oriented toward research, education and non-profit work than anything corporate—I still found her take-home message to be valuable. I finishe... mored the book feeling motivated and informed, not only in terms of career but with some insight into personal and romantic relationships as well. I particularly appreciated her discussion of men's roles in supporting gender equality both in the workplace and at home, as we can't truly have one without the other.
review 2: I liked this book. I think female leadership is important and important to talk about. I like the added chapters at the end written by other people. It would be hard for Sheryl to talk about double jeopardy as she has not experienced it. I did not agree with the assertion that women should be able to be emotional in the workplace. I think women are wrongly labelled as the more emotional sex. Hopefully I can now get a job… Career? less
