review 1: I REALLY enjoyed this book. Although I don't work in corporate America I was surprised at the number of stories and anecdotes that I related to even working in education. The research she cites throughout the book, ESP that on women's preoccupation with "likability," was fascinating. I will recommend it to all women ESP those of similar age and stage (the author graduated from HS in 1987, same as me) as I think she does an excellent job of reminding us that the feminist movement did not die with Betty Friedan. A must read for moms!
review 2: It's weird to sit in a log cabin with no running water and read about the travails and inequalities of corporate America. I don't mind those kinds of contradictions - just not the kind that seem to plague Sandberg's boo
... morek (for example, the only instances she mentions single women, it is entirely in relation to how they should plan for eventual marriage and children). On the other hand, I could relate to some of her other key concepts, especially about how women often approach colleagues in the work world, etc., and appreciated the perspective. less
