review 1: I really liked this. I was amazed at her focus and joy in learning everything. Something I wished I had. Guess you also need the capabilities to focus so and retain it all. I'm very impressed with her. The beginning of the book reminded me of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, though she grows up poor(but not as poor as Francie) their father drinks and dies young and mother is focused on education, education, education. review 2: I didn't expect a book written by a Supreme Court Justice to be so deeply personal and revealing. This is a beautiful memoir that radiates with Sotomayor's personal warmth, authenticity and humanity. Her story of growing up impoverished in the Bronx is well-known, but reading it in her own words makes one truly appreciate how far she cli... morembed to achieve her dream of becoming a judge. Whatever your politics, read this book! less
