Dancing is one of those things that can bring some fast-acting happiness. Moving along to the beat of the music, whether it be by yourself or with a partner, allows for someone to focus on the moment at hand, even if it is just for a minute. You can try to deny it, but everyone has their own set of “happy feet”.
Grab your loved one, turn on some tunes and dance the day away! Photo by Edgardo Hernandez Jr.Everyone has gone through a dancing phase. Just think back to when you were a kid and would jump out of your seat when a certain tv show’s theme song came on, such as Rugrats or Barney! It usually takes place during a young age, where you run up to the dance floor and go crazy to just about any song. To some, you look like a kid that has just gotten possessed. To others, they see a kid having the time of their life.
Even today, when a catchy song comes on, we can’t help but feel something inside telling us to move. Now, dancing doesn’t have to be forced or look like the technical dancing you see on tv. There is no need for putting the most dramatic song you can think of and dance the night away as if you’re in the movie footloose. Although that isn’t a bad idea, dancing can be as simple as rocking side-to-side or bobbing your head. There are no bad attempts; just don’t hurt yourself.
Here are some songs that can spark a beat in you:
- Crazy in Love by Beyonce; A real party starter for just about any situation!
- Safe and Sound by Capital Cities; A catchy tune to lift you up!
- Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye; A little Gaye to spice up your day!
- Your Man by Josh Turner; Some Country Side-Step is always nice!
- Suit & Tie by Justin Timberlake; Smooth moves for days!
- Suavemente by Elvis Crespo; Latin flavor goes a long way!
This list consists of different genres since each one can provoke a different fire inside someone. While Latin brings high-energy, country can bring a calmer beat to dance steadily. Listening to these styles will probably bring out some moves you didn’t even know you had. Which is the beauty of dancing, moving in ways that is comfortable and fun for you! Just a heads up, this goes for both guys and girls, everyone loves someone who can dance. So, now that the benefits have been stated, it is up to you to find the beat of your own drum and let the dance moves flow.
