review 1: Everyday and often not pretty objects and surroundings are transformed into so much more when a dog as lovely as Maddie poses on them. It is a amazing what this dog will stand on, though I suppose some credit must go to Theron Humphrey for coaxing and rewarding her for her efforts! A trip worth doing is worth remembering, and we all benefit from Mr. Humphrey’s foresight to record his and Maddie’s trip in such an imaginative way. What’s next, Mr. Humphrey? Will you take another trip with Maddie, and maybe add another canine – or possibly a feline – to the adventure?
review 2: I checked this book out, read it in one gulp and promptly returned it so others can enjoy it. It's not a tough read; it's mostly a picture book. Maddie balanced on a dinosaur ... morePee-Wee Herman style, Maddie in the wheel well of heavy equipment, Maddie in a mailbox. Maddie is a great dog. I wish there was a little more story given about each picture if only to prolong the reading of the book. In the prolog which I normally don't read but did this time just to have something to read, the author describes why he undertook the trip and how he came to adopt Maddie. He says someone once said to his face that he was a complete disappointment as a human being. He should take comfort that no one who adopts a dog and gets her to balance on weird stuff is ever disappointing. less
