review 1: This was a very well-written book. I read it in three days and could not stop. The writing style was almost magical in the sense that I couldn't stop turning the pages.I'd picked the book up to get a sense for what the buy side is like, and wasn't disappointed. Duff did a good job of portraying things. However, since this all took place in the late 1990's and early 2000's, things are a bit different now. Specifically, to my understanding, the rules against "entertaining" clients are far stricter, so there is a lot less of the drugs, alcohol, and hookers that took place in Tourney's career. The only thing that was really a negative for me about this book was its stereotypical plot. I realize this is completely unfair to say because this is what actually happened to Turney, ... morebut it was a bit of a turnoff as a reader, especially given that I just finished The Wolf of Wall Street, and pretty much the same thing happens in both of them: man comes to wall street, man starts making a lot of money and doing a lot of drugs, man has marital troubles and goes to rehab, and man leaves the industry.
review 2: Right now, Wall Street is about High Frequency Trading, but only a few short years ago, that wasn't the case. Wall Street guys were, well ... Wall Street guys. Take no prisoners. Duff was one of these guys. This story details Duff's rise to excess out of nowhere, what he was and how he acted while at the top, and how drug addiction drove him to the depths of despair. Unlike most Wall Street books that get too into the technical aspect of trading, this story is human all around, and that's what makes it a great read. You can really connect with a real character. less

Painful to read, but a huge eye opener into one's life and Wall Street culture. Wish him luck!
