review 1: The story of a devout, ultra-conservative Catholic family who are led by a patriarch who believes that the passage Vatican II will usher in the worldwide collapse of the the Church. This book should be read by many people, but especially by "Thunderpuppies" who become consumed with searching for the "one true church." This is the blueprint for how a young man can get so wrapped up in theology books and thinking thoughts that he shipwrecks his family.

I felt while the characterizations of Veronica, her sister Terry, and her parents were well done, it was difficult to distinguish the personalities of her younger siblings. The ending also felt slightly compressed--I felt like the author had more of a story to tell than was included in the brief epilogue. less
