William Clark Brinkley is a well-known American writer. The main theme of all his books is a sea. The author was born in Oklahoma, in 1917 and dead in 1993.

William graduated from the University of Oklahoma and the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He was a commander, serving in Europe in the United States Navy during World War II. In 1940, he worked in Oklahoma for The Daily Oklahoman and for The Washington Post, as an editor, writer and corres

His first novel Quicksand was published in 1948. In 1954, he wrote a biography of a Slovakian nun. Lately, he released the first bestseller Don't Go Near the Water, which was turned into a film in 1957. In total, he wrote eight novels and one non-fiction.

He had a wife and his stepson. William Brinkley died in 1993, committing suicide. Last years he was suffering from great depression. less
