review 1: I have to say no one interests me like Sin in this book, not even Boyd. (as the most apathetic and aloof kid in the world he seems to talk too much...) Sin's many things. A psychopathic monster, possibly a cannibal, An efficient killing machine. He also has a major sweet tooth (I laughed my head off when General Carhart used a bag of chocolate potato chips to shut him up) Sin occasionally tricks people who have no intention to harm him, which makes him unexpectedly childish. (poor Luke...) No doubt it's Sin's contradiction that makes him fascinating. Though I can't imagine that he will eventually fall I love with a boy like Boyd, but we'll see.)And Ryan is so cute XDDD--------------------If I had ever lost my faith in Boyd, I've regained it after finishing volume I. When ... moreBoyd stood in front of Vivienne, desperately tried to protect Sin, I started to believe that they will survive in this terrible world.
review 2: I really enjoyed the director's cut of this first part of Evenfall. I missed a few scenes from the original, like when Boyd buys books for Sin, but I had a feeling it'd be gone, anyway. This has a clearer style and is a considerably easier read. There are no "walls of text", which makes it really easy on the eyes, and things happen far more smoothly and streamlined. I really recommend newcomers to the series to start with this, even if they have to wait for all the other volumes to come up. And for those of you who read the originals, give this a go, too. It'll make the experience much more enjoyable. less
