review 1: Alexander Aciman's Twitterature does what it claims in telling the worlds greatest books through twitter. This none fiction book gives amusing representations of the classics, such a Shakespeare and Dickens. The novels are taken and abbreviated into a collection of tweets. I think this book would be enjoyable for the people who hate reading the classics to the people who love them. I personally enjoyed reading it but felt it could be a bit repetitive.
review 2: This book was written by two 19 year old college students and I'd take my hat off (if I was wearing one) to them for a really clever idea. They had an unique idea (taking the classics and twitterfying them), they executed it and they got it published in the mainstream. Impressive stuff. However, this boo
... morek really didn't work for me. Maybe I am too old, but I just didn't get the humor (most people think my humor is off key most of the time, so maybe that is a bad sign for this book if even I didn't find it funny or maybe I am not representative of their target audience). There were a few moments during reading when I smirked, but apart from that I just didn't find it funny.Firstly, I had only read about half of the over 60 classics they were "tweetifying" (yes, I am making up words), so some of the humor went over my head. I doubt I am in the minority with this though, so really the only people who are going to find EVERY tweet relevant are English lit majors). Secondly, of the books I had read I just didn't find the tweets representative of the book itself (well except for the Great Gatsby which was my fave one in the book). However, it is a really FAST read. Only about 140 pages and most of them are only 1/2 to 3/4 filled with writing. Score for the reading challenge :-)Overall I think this is one of those cute little quirky books that you pick up thinking "yes, this is funny" but after reading a few the interest wanes and it quickly find itself off on a journey to a second hand book store. Glad I got this one from the library.Clever guys who wrote it though..... less
