I love the Joker. Loved all versions of him from Early Batman comics to his darkest latest best. I even liked each of the the movie versions. Because the Joker can be so many things that each time is a different take and it all fits. So theoretically, this book should have been right up my alley. But from my ratings you can see I came out disappointed. Not because Batman hardly makes an appearance. Not because its art is simple and not memorable. Primarily because it leaves no lasting impression of the Joker. He is the high prince of Crime for god's sake. Either you finish the book thinking he is crazier than even or you come out of it thinking he is smart as hell. When neither results you can't help be disappointed. I still love the Joker though!

Now this is Joker story I can get behind! Told through the perspective of Johnny Frost (an outsider as much as us), Azzarello takes us through a day-in-the-life of recently released, broke, and outraged Joker as he hits up all of Gotham's villains. The Joker in this re-imagination isn't corny but just pure insanity with no discernible rhyme or reason. And the art was just so rich and gritty, really detailed in a way that wasn't necessarily flattering to those it portrayed, which in my opinion was just what the story was conveying.Such a great and dark story, with an incredibly ambiguous ending that hints at the lasting power of the Joker and Batman. Also I love LOVE silent Harley Quinn in all this, she doesn't care for no man!

Meh...could have been better. Not worth the hype.
