I'd probably give it closer to three stars, but I love her distinct tone and I am sad when I think about how she'll never write any more books. The pacing is a bit uneven, and I'm still a bit fuzzy on the details of the system of magic/the whole deal with the glass and the doppelgangers. Similar to her other books, the sense of place plays a bit part of it (like Chrestomanci's castle).

Well written (of course!), but left me wondering what happens next? AND THERE'S NO SEQUEL!!!!
Neil Gaiman gives this five stars. 8 and up.
disappointed by the loose ending.
