I picked this up a few days ago at the Scholastic Warehouse Sale when I was getting some stuff for my girl. But I started reading this immediately to see if it might also be good for my daughter. I've read the Parasol Protectorate series and liked it pretty well. I'm happy to say that I enjoyed this one too! I'm not sure if my girl will be into it, but I'm definitely recommending it to her. We're at a weird stage now where her reading level doesn't match the reading level of her interests. In fact, THIS one is only on a 5th grade level. She happens to be in 5th grade and the bottom level of her range is always her actual grade, so she can still read it for AR. I think she might like it, but I guess we'll see.

Ah, finishing school. That noble institution where young girls may go to become ladies of quality. With lessons in knife fighting from werewolves, etiquette from vampires, and observation from actresses, a girl can get quite an education indeed. As adventure packed as the Parasol Protectorate series, though clearly geared for younger readers, these books continue expanding that wonderful world of Victorian fashion, steam-powered ingenuity, and supernatural science. I'd highly recommend this title for young adult readers or fan of the steam-punk genre.
