This is Fayetteville's One Book/One Community Read, and I'm looking forward to meeting the author at the end of the month. This book isn't particularly a "pleasant" book to read...it is laying heavy on my heart...but I also think it's an excellent book, and one that needs much discussion and much action taken to better prepare our military forces spiritually and emotionally - not just physically - for what they unfortunately must often do! A heartbreaking read.

A SFPL "On the Same Page" book. I was expecting an antiwar book, but the author, who was a Marine officer in Vietnam, wants the military to give better "spiritual and psychological tools" to help servicemen & women cope with the conflicting and dissonant feelings one gets from being in war. His solution was a bit too new-agey for me, but he provides a good framework for thinking about these things.

Amazing. A must read for anyone who's ever thought about war.
