One of my fave characters was Hunter. Bred and raised as a cold-blooded killer, ignorant to everything other than cold logic, I was interested how would his character develop into one that can love and experience pleasure. I have to say, it's not his character that disappointed this time. His was actually quite good. Not perfect, but OK. It was his females - Corinne's, that went a bit... weird. She's a Breedmate who was rescued just a few days ago from a long-term imprisonment. Like... 70-year long. She was savaged, tortured, raped... and that all lasted for more than half a century. She had a son (born in a laboratory, fathered by the Ancient who raped her, probably more than once...), and actually all her emotional and psychical problems pictured in the book are turning around that lost son. We get only a little glimpse of a troubled woman that was raped for 70 years, for chrissake! She has not too many problems to jump into bed with actually a cold-blooded killer. Yeah, he might have a good soul and shit, but... SHE WAS RAPED AND POKED FOR 70 YEARS! You don't just jump into having sex right after something like that! Even with a super-hot, mysterious male like Hunter. That all being said, plot's not that bad. The story around Dragos and his evil plans are slowly beginning to take shape. Long story short: still not good enough, but kept me going and reading the next one in the series.
So damn dissappointed in this book. I wanted to read Hunter's book since we were introduced to him. And then he gets this plain-Jane as a mate. There was just nothing WOW about. Even the sex was non-descriptive and just seem as if it was copied and pasted. He was a Virgin for crying out loud, an emotionless killing machine. Where was the exploration? the wonder? the awe of experiencing intimacy for the first time? The only thing that kept me reading was the premonition. But that was it....
0 for corrinne 4 for the order and hunter 0 for romance
Amazing book! One of the best in the series so far!
I liked it for the side stories most...
