review 1: So I was a Hunter fan from the beginning. Ever since we met him and he joined up with the order I knew there was something special about this boy. Hunter doesn't understand emotions because they have been beaten out of him over his course of time with Dragos. Corrine Bishop has shared her life with that sick twisted monster too. She even has a son by the Ancient. So when she is freed the only thing she wants to do is find her 13 year old son so he can be taken care of. What she didn't count on was the fact that Hunter not Brock was going to take her there. This is so good and the ending is even better.
review 2: Corinne spent years locked away in one of Dragos prisons, abused and alone and feeling there was never gonna be no escape. But one day the Order of str
... moreong Vampires came to her rescue, Vampires on a mission to stop Dragos and his plans to take over. With everything that has happened to her Corinne has lost her innocence and her trust in people/Vampires. until one Vampire comes into her life and becomes her protector.Hunter once one of Dragos assassins growing up alone and in fear of the man who brought him up, not knowing love but only discipline. now working for the order he becomes Corinne's protector. Both out to go against Dragos. Both on there separate missions but end up with the same goal. Working together they form an unlikely friendship and a bond neither has ever had before. with there bond growing as there mission goes along they find more then friendship, they find a love and a family both have been craving .Well it took me a long time to read this book because when ever I tried to sit and read it something happened and I didn't get the chance, but when I did get to read it I loved it. I had so many emotions running through me as I was reading this book. I felt Corinne's pain as her child was taken from her, felt Hunters Loneliness as he grow up alone. and felt both there nerves as they realise there feelings for each other. I'm a mega fan of Lara Adrian and iv not read one of her books iv not liked, I have to be truthful and say this wasn't my favourite book in the series but I still enjoyed it very much. Lara has an amazing way with words and she is able to help you get lost in this world of the breed. I sometimes wish I could really jump into the book and find my self one of these breed males for my own. I love the they make there breed mates feel protected and loved. I cant wait to move onto the next book and seeing how the series continues because this book ended up with a Hugh cliffhanger which I'm not happy about because I have to wait to read the next book. less

One of my fave characters was Hunter. Bred and raised as a cold-blooded killer, ignorant to everything other than cold logic, I was interested how would his character develop into one that can love and experience pleasure. I have to say, it's not his character that disappointed this time. His was actually quite good. Not perfect, but OK. It was his females - Corinne's, that went a bit... weird. She's a Breedmate who was rescued just a few days ago from a long-term imprisonment. Like... 70-year long. She was savaged, tortured, raped... and that all lasted for more than half a century. She had a son (born in a laboratory, fathered by the Ancient who raped her, probably more than once...), and actually all her emotional and psychical problems pictured in the book are turning around that lost son. We get only a little glimpse of a troubled woman that was raped for 70 years, for chrissake! She has not too many problems to jump into bed with actually a cold-blooded killer. Yeah, he might have a good soul and shit, but... SHE WAS RAPED AND POKED FOR 70 YEARS! You don't just jump into having sex right after something like that! Even with a super-hot, mysterious male like Hunter. That all being said, plot's not that bad. The story around Dragos and his evil plans are slowly beginning to take shape. Long story short: still not good enough, but kept me going and reading the next one in the series.

So damn dissappointed in this book. I wanted to read Hunter's book since we were introduced to him. And then he gets this plain-Jane as a mate. There was just nothing WOW about. Even the sex was non-descriptive and just seem as if it was copied and pasted. He was a Virgin for crying out loud, an emotionless killing machine. Where was the exploration? the wonder? the awe of experiencing intimacy for the first time? The only thing that kept me reading was the premonition. But that was it....
