I like Lewis Black. I love his style of humor and his delivery. I've read Nothing's Sacred which was OK. I've also seen him perform in New York on the Let Them Eat Cake tour a few years ago and had a blast. He is a sharp and intelligent comedian. But THIS book, boy. What a flop. I can't believe that Black, with his talent, mileage and wit, came up with this bore. Too few funny ideas and moments and too many fillers just can't make up a book. Maybe he was obligated by the publishers to write this book as a part of his contract. I heard he also wrote a book about Christmas, but I don't intend to read it. He should stick to his act and TV specials.Lewis, your comedy works better on the stage and the screen, not in the print form!
While a pretty decent book, I'd hardly call it a comedy. Only a few times did I actually laugh out loud. On the other hand, Lewis succeeds in providing monologues and the occasional poignant moment (such as the religious experience he had while golfing). I greatly enjoyed reading the insights provided by Lewis, but would have preferred a quicker beginning (the first chapters were a tad slow - with Lewis easing into the religious talk by starting with a dry bit on airplane terminals).Note: Audio Version
Love his light hearted and humorous approach to something that people take WAY to seriously!
Very funny! He really knows how to yell in paper format!
My sides hurt!
