A cute, charming little book all about friendship and tests of time.It is true that horrible things that happen in high school stay with you, even 10 years later, like for Annie. I liked Annie's spunk and sass and really appreciated how confident she was in her abilities.I had a hard time warming to Julia until she broke through some barriers. After that, I found her a bit more likable. One thing I didn't like is that Julia didn't have a lot of faith in her fiance to handle difficult news, which seemed a bit short-sighted for her character. All in all, a good book and a quick read.

Unfortunately, this book ended up being just like a cupcake - mildly tasty, quick to consume, not terribly memorable. I felt like the author was trying to toss together too many genres and wrap it up in a pretty little package. If she had stuck to one or two plot lines and fully developed them, it might have been a decent book. I define a good book by if I want to read more by the author; I didn't even bother reading the excerpt for her next book at the end of this one. Oh well...

Easy, quick read. Not my usual genre, but a nice change of pace. And who doesn't love cupcakes? ;)
