Very rare that I actually enjoy a follow up novel better than the original in a seriesh nur Auch was the case for The Dark Monk. Less lurid than the first I enjoyed that it was a faster read because the characters had already been developed in the first novel. I enjoy history and mysteries and often this past year have had opportunities to be in some of the very same places Poetzch writes about. I loved the authors note and now have an excellent idea for a nice day Bavarian bike tour!

Great look into medieval life... and murder.
Good mystery with familiar characters.
