It's nice to see a glimmer of hope for humanity. This has the settlement beginning to rebuild and consider new tactics (build a moat, arrange car barricades etc.) and also come into contact with another settlement within a day's drive. The various suspicions and personality clashes are to be expected but it's nice to see that there is the hope of other settlements and setting up trade agreements. Dangled as the new nemesis is the local psychotic Mafia-esque gang that Rick's crew will presumably tangle with in the next book in order to break their protection racket.
This is somewhat of a transition volume after all the action of the previous book.Things settle down, new neighbors and potential enemies are discovered.Edit : Now that I have read the next book, I realize that this book is the perfect point to hop on the walking dead for those wanting to jump on the serie midway as the peoeple introduced in this book become more important in the next ones. The first seven walking dead were about zombies, from now on, things are bout humans...
vol. 15 and 16.
