review 1: So, Lori is preggers and Dale suggests that the baby's daddy might be Shane.Rick is worried that it might be cuz he's only been with his wife once since he got to camp.We find out that zombies will freeze up when it's cold. This is good to know. If it keeps snowing then they'll be safe. The gang finds a gated community called "Wiltshire Estates". It's full of nice houses and the gang figures they can live there for a while.Tyreese appears to be Rick's new Right Hand Man and we also find out that he played for the NFL for 2 years.Donna is passing out extra blankets that she finds in the one house everyone is spending the night in. She goes to give Dale one and finds him and Andrea getting ready to get it on. So, she keeps that blanket for her and her hubz.Ummm... eww?!!! I h... moread no clue that Dale and Andrea were gonna do it. In the show it was more of a Father/Daughter thing. Not a TOUCH MY BOOBIES type thing ;)A big reveal is at the end of this issue which tells why the community is deserted.
review 2: This was one the slower moving but seemed to be laying down a foundation for future story lines. Although, this is a slower pace, I thought the character development was done well with some new characters introduced. Rick is starting to deal with some of his emotions with Carl, other loses he’s suffered and becoming a leader of the new community. The community has mixed feelings about Rick taking control and there is a dust up, along with some grumblings. They learn of a new community that may be able to trade with and really start living rather than surviving but it comes with a big price. I am looking forward to see where the story line continues. less

It's nice to see a glimmer of hope for humanity. This has the settlement beginning to rebuild and consider new tactics (build a moat, arrange car barricades etc.) and also come into contact with another settlement within a day's drive. The various suspicions and personality clashes are to be expected but it's nice to see that there is the hope of other settlements and setting up trade agreements. Dangled as the new nemesis is the local psychotic Mafia-esque gang that Rick's crew will presumably tangle with in the next book in order to break their protection racket.

This is somewhat of a transition volume after all the action of the previous book.Things settle down, new neighbors and potential enemies are discovered.Edit : Now that I have read the next book, I realize that this book is the perfect point to hop on the walking dead for those wanting to jump on the serie midway as the peoeple introduced in this book become more important in the next ones. The first seven walking dead were about zombies, from now on, things are bout humans...
