Dwight is a social outcast at McQuarrie Middle School. He says and does odd things, including wearing an origami Yoda on his fingertip. Strangely enough, the Origami Yoda gives useful social advice to anyone who asks. Tommy can’t understand how Yoda can be wise while Dwight appears so clueless. In an attempt to solve the mystery of the Origami Yoda, Tommy collects the experiences of different students. Tommy must decide if he believes in Yoda enough to follow his advice and take a huge social risk. The Strange Case of the Origami Yoda is a good balance of humor and life lessons. It has a similar feel to Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but the writing is better and the message more uplifting. Tween readers will relate to the students at McQuarrie Middle School as they gain wisdom from Origami Yoda. This is a great book for both avid and reluctant tween readers.Grade level--4th gradeInterest Level--10-12 years old

This book surprised me! Yes, I was following the typical stereotype where I thought that it would be too "nerdy" or "boyish" just because it referenced Star Wars, with the Yoda origami character. But a girl should read this book as much as any boy should! This book shows children that it is okay to have people think that you are weird. The main character, Dwight, was thought of as weird by his classmates, but he did not notice and did not care. That is the lesson that I would recommend this book for. That is the reason that children should read this book. I think the middle school age and even 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders should read this.
