review 1: Overall I liked this book although the tone was definitely tounge in cheek, but sometimes came across as just plain angry. I most identified with the chapter on 'Being told to smile by a stranger'. How often that has happened to me...now I know it happens to others as well.I did learn about some movements that I had never heard of before such as the father/daughter dances that celebrate the girl's virginity, creepy.
review 2: If you're like me, you dig a nice, funny, politically conscious book sometimes as a welcome distraction from your primary hobbies of reading feminist reproductive rights policy books and googling everyone you have ever met to try and figure out if they are more successful than you. This book is by one of my favorite political bloggers, and
... more I was very glad to have it on hand after I spent all night googling people I went to high school and found out that they are all able to buy and sell me, because they run lucrative websites. It's because they majored in business or something! Anyway, Amanda Marcotte is a fucking hoot. less
