The Book of Ivy
review 1: SO SO SO SOOOOO GOOD!!!I think I cried a little when I got to the end and realized I'd have to wait until November 2015 to read the next book. WHY IS LIFE SO UNFAIR?!?!?!I loved the dystopian elements (this is NOT "just another dystopian"—it's really good).I loved the sweet, hesitant, conflicting, slow burning romance.I loved how Ivy struggled with her feelings (towards Bishop) and her obligation (to her family/father/"the cause").I easily tore though this book in one sitting AND I DON'T KNOW HOW I'LL SURVIVE WITHOUT BOOK 2!!
review 2: I feel like this book was more character driven but the characters really couldn't support the story. I was expecting the romance element to be the prevailing factor of this book but the romance didn't come along until the boo
... morek was almost done. It took Bishop and Ivy, i kid you not forever to kiss. There was so much wasted time in the beginning when their romance could have been developing. The period when they kissed and finally had something it came and went so quick. If it had happened earlier their relationship would have felt more real. As for Bishop he had soo much potential he was swoon worthy and i liked his character but there were so many moments that could have been cute between them but because of unsaid words the moments were thrown away.I would have liked to get to know more about his character we didn't get much time with him.It took so long for them to connect on a deeper level if they had sooner maybe we could have learned more about Bishop and who he was. Also i felt like he never really knew Ivy. As for Ivy i understand the way she was raised but i felt like she was so stupid like what she did at the end it was so unnecessary i saw so many other directions that could have gone. I hated how because of the things she didn't say the moments that could have been amazing were thrown away. I also didn't like how she did what she was told 24/7 without a second thought it was like she didn't have a mind of her own. As for the world i thought the author did a great job painting this world and explaining the politics of it to the reader. The writing style kept me entertained, although some moments in the court job she had were kind of boring. I thought that the plot was pretty slow as i said it took a long time for things to progress especially between Bishop and Ivy which wasted alot of time. There were still many cute moments that i liked between them. I think what really killed this book was Ivy's decisions toward the end i was so annoyed and upset with her. Its a shame i didn't love this as much as thought i would, I'm so disappointed, it had so much potential. less
