review 1: Make this 3.5 stars. This is more a collection of essays than a linear book, not that that's a bad thing - it just felt a bit disjointed at times. On the whole, I really enjoyed it. It was interesting to read about the author's spiritual journey, and fascinating to learn about the experiences that led to her becoming a doula, a mother, and a hospice chaplain, and how she so is so fully present in each of these roles.
review 2: Amy Wright Glenn's book is a lovely experience. I smiled, nodded, shook my head, and cried intermittently throughout this heartfelt memoir. I have several friends to whom I plan to send this book as I believe it touches many different human emotions -- even those of us who have chosen not to parent, we have been parented or cared for
... more someone on some level. And, of course, we all have lost loved ones and will eventually die ourselves. I recommend this book to anyone who has loved and been loved. It is both poetic and prophetic. less

I loved this book. As a Doula myself, this book helped me through my Grandfather's death.
