I’m always a fan of the way Owlcrate continues to mesmerise and provide something new in every box, even when their themes are similar to ones they’ve previously released. This November their CASTLES, COURTS AND KINGDOMS box was yet another hit, with a winning combination of obvious hits and little surprises.
So, with a theme like this one, the book was always going to have a connection to castles and royalty and all the good fun stuff I love. What made it even better was the fact that it was Lauren Destefano’s newest release The Glass Spare. The only book I’ve ever read of hers is Wither and I loved it but never had the chance to grab the sequels. So now I’m actually kind of excited to read this one and especially as it’s a brand new beginning to a series featuring two female characters who sound absolutely incredible. And Owlcrate delivered with a gorgeously detailed cover that was brighter and bolder than the original, plus it included all the usual author goodies like a letter and signed bookplate!
So, onto the extras of the box and this one definitely had some of my all-time favourites. The Expecto Patronum beanie is seriously amazing (even though beanies look funny on me and it is currently summer in Australia so I can’t wear it right now) and was an exclusive Owlcrate design. There was also a badge featuring one of the Grisha orders from Leigh Bardugo’s seriously epic books and I got Heartrender! It’s magnetic and super awesome and designed by the incomparable JuniperAndIvyDesigns. We also scored a notebook designed by StellaBookishArt, a very yummy Winter Is Coming lip balm from GeekFireLabs and another of my favourites was this soap which looks exactly like the elven bread from The Lord of the Rings and was created by FizzyFairyApothecary.
To close off the year, Owlcrate is putting together a SEIZE THE DAY theme for their December box and trust me when I say it’s certainly an inspirational one. Stay tuned for my next unboxing to come soon!!
