review 1: I've had Borowitz's book sitting on my iPad for a while, and thought I'd finally read it while accompanying my mom to a doctor's visit. My only choices were back issues of Cancer Today, AARP publications, and this. Very amusing essay-length tale of his experience with a twisted colon and the life-threatening operations that followed. A quick read, funny in spots, and horrifying in others! I'm glad Andy's okay.
review 2: This isn't really a book as many others have pointed out, more like a blog entry or essay, but I'm glad I read it anyhow. I really like Andy Borowitz and I liked this not-book. ... morerces us not to. Well that's what this not-book was all about. A life threatening illness that almost took his life, but obviously didn't which then helped Andy truly appreciate even more what he has in front of him. You know, us first world people are so spoiled that we need something to jolt us into feeling truly alive. Hence why so many people go to church and waste their time. Because they hope when it's all over, there has got to be something better than this. Moral of the story: enjoy life and hopefully you have really good health insurance. less
