review 1: SUMMARYIf You Give a Mouse an iPhone is a twist on the classic book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. In this story, Applesauce, the mouse, starts to play on his owners iPhone. He becomes absorbed in the technology and gets himself into some interesting situations. How will the owner stop Applesauce from the distraction of the phone?ACTIVITY - for 2nd gradersFirst, I would have the students work in pairs to create the story on a story map to help them remember the events that occurred. After they finish the story map, I would have them recreate the story replacing Applesauce with themselves. They would tell what could happen if they become to absorbed in technology. Droyd, Ann. review 2: This is a clever and subtle message to parents and children about how much life they will miss out on if they keep their eyes on their devices and not on the world around them! Our technological devices sometimes block all of our other senses, and we are unaware of what we are missing! I loved the book design and the brevity of it! It didn't need many pages to get the message across to the reader.I also loved Applesauce! less
