review 1: I picked up this book of short stories about knitters and writing along with quite a few other books, and got around to reading it recently. The book is comprised of short essays written by various writers (some famous, some not) who have something to talk about on the topic of knitting. As a whole I really enjoyed this book, with the standout tale being that from Sue Grafton, and the quality of the stories was largely very good with only one or two that seemed sub-par. It's a lovely read, includes some knitting patterns, and would be a great book for anyone who loves knitting and/or writing and reading.

... moreds, projects that don't turn out as expected....the best of these essays follow the threads of knitting through the maze of life and its joys, losses and discoveries. Standouts for me were Ann Hood's "10 Things I Learned from Knitting", "The 1-Year Marriage" by Jennifer Lauck, and "Straw into Gold" by Joyce Maynard. less

The kind of book to curl up with in front of the fireplace with tea or cocoa on a stormy afternoon.
