review 1: So much of what Anna Quindlen writes resonates with me, although I am somewhat younger than she. As a middle aged woman, a mother, a daughter, and a dreamer, she often writes exactly what I think and want to say. While the prose is written in a somewhat stream-of-conscious manner, I enjoy the way her storytelling meanders through twists and turns and lands exactly in places of meaning that only Anna Quindlen can articulate.
review 2: I really wanted to like this book a lot more than I did. The chapters seemed like individual essays that were too long. What she had to say in each chapter was interesting and worth reading but I think she could have said the same thing in shorter way. Also, from the title, I had expected a more hopeful ending than the book ac... moretually has. The four star rating I had hoped to give this book has become a three star rating. less
