review 1: I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but found this one fell flat for me. The romance lacks....something. I never felt like the author dug deeply into her characters and the whole thing came off a bit superficial to me. This was one of those books where I would read a few chapters, put it down, come back an hour later and struggle to recall what I had read previously. Things did pick up a bit, and smooth out, for me once the couple lands in Russia - but considering how much I enjoyed the first book, this one was kind of a downer.
review 2: Olivia, has worked very hard over the years as penance for her past sins. When she was fifteen, she fell in love with a boy named Clayton. But her father had committed some crimes, and blamed it on Clayton. Oli
... morevia had thought he was dead all of these years, but then he re appears back into her life with a vengeance. Clayton plans on financially ruining the mill that has taken her years to build up. Even though it was all in her father's name it was her doing. Now with Clayton back she needs to find a way to keep him from destroying the one thing that matters to her. However she is then kidnapped by Clayton's enemies, and even though he rescues her, they work together to save lives. Clayton, has felt betrayed by Olivia and especially her father. Having been forced to be a spy all of these years, he has made enemies. These enemies have gone after Olivia, he knows he must rescue her. Even though his plans of retribution are in order, he starts to find himself weakening toward her because he is starting to see a whole different side to her...a side he could very easily fall in love with. Thanks to Edelweiss and Avon Books I was given a copy of the ARC Sins of a Ruthless Rogue by Anna Randol. I actually have never read anything from this author, and now I am wishing I had read more from this author. I really enjoyed this story, even though I am not huge on revenge type romances, I found that the way Randol weaved this story together, definitely has me hooked. The plot was very exciting and at times felt like a roller coaster, but had a fun and adventurous element to it. I also loved the style of writing this author displays....it instantly draws the reader right into the story. It didn't take me very long to get into it. Clayton is full of revenge, and is more stubborn than an ox when it comes to Olivia. Even though there were times I considered him to be ruthless when it came to matters pertaining to Olivia. But I always love it when the hero gets proven wrong. I really liked Olivia, she admits to her mistakes and doesn't excuse them for any reason. But we see how deeply she cares for Clayton, and she proves that she is a better person now than when she was fifteen. That she is willing to do whatever it takes to do what is right. The chemistry that explodes between them is burning and I found myself fanning my face at times. (where is my fan when I need it? LOL) But there was also some very tender and sweet moments that occur that just keep you wanting more. From beginning to end Sins of a Ruthless Rogue was a captivating tale that takes you on a adventure from England to Russia and will endear you to this author as it has with me. LOVED every page, every paragraph and sentence that had me falling heads over heels in love with this fun and exciting story!! less
