review 1: Started reading it and then read the reviews which I think coloured my judgement. Although I found some bits unsubstantiated I stuck with it right to the end. Found the relationship between Wallis and husband no. 2 very interesting. Left me wondering whether Wallis got 'stuck' with the King in the end. A sad life for both of them and perhaps not the great romance we all have imagined. Worth a read.
review 2: I was very excited about reading this book since I've never read a bio on the Duchess of Windsor. The documentary based on the secret letters of Wallis Simpson was very good. This bio is a bit of a let down. It uses a lot of info that I've read elsewhere (in other bios and in feature articles etc). The author uses a lot of her word-count exploring differen
... moret theories on whether Wallis was born female or male etc and then concludes by adding its all speculation. While I understand it is her job as biographer to explore her subject, I felt she could have drawn on more concrete evidence. The background info of Wallis's environment etc are well explored. It's also quite abrupt in its ending. Lovely photos, though. less

I enjoyed this book, but some of the information thrown out there wasn't explained.
