The Season of Glitter :Stila Written in the Stars

Like many other beauty fanatics, I look forward to the Christmas season because it’s the one time of year I feel like I can go to town on the amount of glitter I put on my face. More is more. Of course, the make up brands never disappoint with their sparkling offerings. I have had my eye on the Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish eyeshadow for years. Arguably the first brand to create that metallic foil eye lid look. Although I love the look I have always been put off this particular product. Firstly, by the price. I’m by no means stingy, especially when it comes to makeup, but £33.50 is quite steep for a singular eye shadow even for me. Secondly, it comes with a metal tray and the Stay All Day Liquid Eye Primer and I think the idea is to mix the two together and then apply it. Personally, I think for a product that’s £33.50 thats a tad too much work.

Then Stila came out with the simplified Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows. These were more up my street. A  glitter filled tube that comes with an applicator. Also these retail for £23, making them a bit kinder on the wallet.

But never one to miss a bargain, I spotted The Stila Written in the Stars trio Glitter and Glow Liquid eyeshadow set released for Christmas 2017. This is retailing for £25 and includes 2.25ml of product in three shades-

  • Diamond Dust ( silver glitter)
  • Kitten Karma (rose gold glitter)
  • Smoky Storm (bronze glitter )

I literally saw this online on the way home from a  night shift and bought it as soon as I arrived home. I do not regret this as the set is currently sold out . I LOVE the colour selection included. You can never go wrong with staple silver and gold tones. I think these colours could be used to create so many looks over the festive season and beyond. I have always worn these over an eyeshadow so can’t say how they do alone or as a glitter liner. Saying that, I used the shade Smoky Storm (my current favourite) over eyeshadows from my Morphe  35T palette and it blends like a dream. I think these glitters are more designed to allow you to create a subtle glittery look, as opposed to full on drama. Personally, I prefer this look, but it’s something to consider when investing in these. Although the wand is a convenient addition, the thickness of it can make it difficult to apply the product as precisely as you might want. The only other downside I noticed was that the formula is quite wet. Because of this you do need to give the glitter a bit of time to dry otherwise you run the risk of smudges or transfer. However, once dry there is next to no glitter fall out so get ready to sparkle all day.

Verdict 4/5
