review 1: This book is a playful story that introduces kids to the fun of bird watching. It encourages kids to be outside and use a sketchbook and really use their eyes and look around. The pictures are very vibrant and portray all sorts of birds having conversations about others. review 2: Irreverent yet thorough introduction to bird-watching, including why, how, what to look for, where, and other general tips. Pen and ink with watercolor cartoon drawings with speech bubbles giving the birds their own snarky commentary on the facts. I liked... more the casual tone in general, but one sentence shortened "them" to "'em", which was one colloquialism too much. This is up for the Towner nonfiction award. less
