review 1: This was the first book I had ever read from this author, so was not sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The story sucked me in. Revenge can be a great plot device, or a boring waste of time. Here I thought it worked well. A few times the story was getting a little predictable, but by the end, a complete surprise (halfway thru a book I can usually figure out "who did it", not this one!) I loved the interaction between Holt and his daughter. If Annie Solomons' other books are as good as this one will have to check them out!
review 2: I would only give this 2.5 stars, I hated the heroine, could not really put my finger on why but I did not warm up to her at all and the hero also didn't do much for me! I nearly gave up half wa... morey through but the suspense plot kept me reading and the last quarter of the book picked up pace leading to a very unexpected ending. So 2.5 stars because the plot was good but no higher because I did not like the protagonists. less
