review 1: I really enjoyed this book. I loved that it took place in New Zealand, a place I don't typically read stories about...it was a nice change of pace. I found the concept of this, a 'contract' of marriage, so to speak, to save a house, a bit far fetched. But, hey, it's a book, where anything is possible. I was still able to enjoy it. I found that the pace of events seemed to move a bit fast for my liking, but other than that, I really enjoyed this story. I loved the chemistry, the heat, the passion that developed between Ruby and Christo. I loved watching them fall in love with each other, and then suddenly seeing it themselves. I loved the scene at the ultrasound...I remember the feelings and thoughts my husband and I had when we had ours with our daughter. I wanted... more to throw something heavy at Christo at a few points...the control he exerted, the rigidity he showed, but then I wanted to give him a hug at the same time. I wanted to strangle Ruby when she would fight what was so obviously happening to her--the love that was growing inside her. What a fun story!! I'm very appreciative for the opportunity to read this!
review 2: I knew it was a wise idea to wait for a holiday weekend to read this book. You won't want to be interrupted when you step inside the world of Ruby and Christo. Barbara De Leo paints such a rich picture of the Auckland-based romance, that you almost feel the Summer breeze and the hot, humid nights she describes as the passionate characters re-enter one another's lives. There was such detail in the story, yet room for your imagination too! I can't wait to read the next book! less
