Starring Jules
review 1: Okay book. Good if you are a 3rd grader. The story opens to Jules getting asked to audition for a TV commercial. She is in Elementary school and her best friend is no longer her friend, she hangs out with Teddy, who is a bit of an outcast, and a new girl is coming to start school with them, Elinor. She has to use Orange flavored mouthwash in the commercial and hates orange anything. Does she get the roll for the commercial? You will have to read to find out!
review 2: My 8-year-old daughter loves Jules and couldn't wait to devour this book and its sequel. We had a good time reading the book together, some great follow-up discussions, and I wasn't left with a sticky-sweet princessy aftertaste. Jules is a relatable character who is fictionally living out the fan
... moretasy of many fame-seeking kids. She is unsteady and imperfect, not cutesy and obnoxious. My only (minor) quibble was with the illustrations, which showed characters that looked like teens, not 7-year-olds. less

It's not going to win any awards, but it's a sweet, sensitive early chapter book.

A nice little book about friendship and being yourself.

Chick lit for eight year olds. Didn't like it.
