review 1: I try to give every book that I read an equal chance. By the fifth chapter I usually know if I want to continue reading the book. I couldn't make it past chapter three of The Clockwork Dagger. I honestly though that I would like this book. An interesting setting, A women that has a great power that she doesn't fully understand. A heroin that's not whiny or too head strong. I just couldn't read anymore of this book
review 2: A refreshing blend of steampunk, magic, mystery and politics. I wasn't sure what to expect but this new series launch by Beth Cato piqued my interest from the first 10 pages. The heroine, Octavia Leander (clever name, if you get it), is well defined but as a nice change, the opposing factions have good and bad points. You're not going to hav... moree a clear evildoer to root against here. It's an intriguing story and by the end, you're desperate to get to the next book. Alas, answers to the who & what of the Lady, the war between the Casketians and the Dallows and what happens next in the burgeoning romance between Octavia & Mr. Garrett will have to wait until the next book. Get started now, read this. less
