review 1: The author's love letter to Iceland, this is a wonderful story that takes the Norse myths and makes them human. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative from Freya's point of view, she is engaging and likeable but still flawed. The Fulla story line was a bit too "Romeo & Juliet" for my liking, but then I never truly enjoy a "love at first sight" story. Just because he/she's young and pretty does not mean it's a good match and I would rather have seen her marry her betrothed from the Allthing. But such is the fantasy tale, and it was still a lovely read.
review 2: I absolutely loved this book from start to finish! The author's homage to Iceland, it's people and gods and goddesses was exceptional. The main characters being Freya and Fulla and their relationships with
... more the people in their lives and with new people they meet. The struggles they both endure and choices they make with ensuing results makes for a fabulous read with the desire to learn more about everything Icelandic. less

Don't remember too much, but loved the setting and the cover. May need to reread it...

Interesting enough to read again. I haven't read anything quite like this one.

Fascinating for those who like a sprinkle of lore with their stories.
