review 1: My Mum recommended this to me, and I enjoyed it. Apart from being interested by the memories of Brenda Ashford's childhood, her training, and her first two placements, I have to say that the role of those who cared for the children of women engaged in war work in 1939-45 had never occurred to me, and yet they had a big effect on the war effortI also found it interesting because a friend from school trained at the Norland in the 1970s.
review 2: This was a delicious book to read! I loved all th tidbits Nanny Brenda had to share and her her descriptions of were so enjoyable. I have ordered my own copy so I can highlight and mark up all the really good stuff and try some of the yummy recipes that were shared. Brenda wrote this book at the age of ninety-two and
... more she has some great wisdom for all families to seriously consider and apply to their lives. I enjoyed her wit and all of the fun details that were shared about the many families Brenda was able to be nannies to.Family is important. Charity never faileth. These were two very important themes that I also value. less
