review 1: Timely read, with the current Mary Poppins fad. This was a real person dealing with real children and their real parents. She gives a great deal of "old fashioned" but timely advice. To have a nanny care for your children, and at least give them consistent affection and guidance. Day care does not even come close. Of course you have to afford the nanny. Today's nannys woudl not be trained, nor as disciplined as she was.
review 2: Very interesting learning about the way nannies were trained in England. I couldn't help but feel some pity for her in the way her personal life turn
... moreed out, but all was redeemed by the beautiful ending with her last charge, Susanna. Great read. less
