review 1: SUMMARY: Rock star Jackson Bell has just given his heart to God. Resolved to abandon his wicked lifestyle and eager for instruction in Christian living, he heads home to Owatonna, Minnesota and the girl-next-door he's secretly loved for years. Dismayed to find Laney Ryland in the midst of a faith crisis, "Jeb" quickly formulates a plan: he'll help Laney get her faith back, and then he'll find her a good Christian man to marry so she can get started on that big family she longs for.It won't be easy, watching another man slide a ring onto Laney's finger. But she deserves only the best, and Jeb means to see that she gets it. Now if only her great-aunts, those pesky 79-year-old matchmaking triplets known as the Three Graces, will just stay out of his way . . . .REVIEW: New-to... more-me author Brenda Coulter has written a modern Christian fiction romance that focuses on new life for those coming to Jesus' saving grace from a sin-filled life. Jeb accepted Jesus Christ as his savior but had so many questions about how to move forward and leave his "dirty" past behind. Coulter did a great job of portraying a realistic character facing questions about how to move forward after a life filled with mistakes. She did the same with Laney a faith-filled Christian who has lost her way after many things in her life go wrong. I absolutely adored the "Three Graces" and found them humorous, faith-filled, and loving. Good story line filled with sadness, laughter and love. FAVORITE QUOTES: "But Christians aren't perfect, Jeb...We don't always think and act the way we should.""His Word says that if you confess your sins, he'll forgive you. So what business do you have trying to hold on to guild God has already taken away.?""The best way to demonstrated your gratitude for God's forgiveness is to forgive others.""Lord, I don't want to fight you any more. You know the desires of my heart, but it looks like you have other plans for my life. I want to be okay with that, but I'm going to need a lot of help."
review 2: I really don't enjoy predictable empty love stories, I prefer romantic suspense with a bit of grit, but something about this book appealed so I thought I would give it a shot...boy I'm glad I did.I liked the idea of a rock star giving his heat to The Lord...thinking Korn for all you rock lovers. The story is deep and meaningful, I loved our two main characters Laney and Jeb and although I predicted a happy ending, was pleased with the outcome anyway. The three graces were a great addition to the story, integrating two totally separate generations.Laney is intelligent, sweet and headstrong and Jeb is tough and rough and all man, a lovely mix. I enjoyed reading about their history as friends and liked that even through distance, their busy careers and past heartaches their friendship remained constant.Could I have one gripe? I found the segue from friends to relationship a bit too fast, like it was missing a tiny bit in between to tie them together nicely.I loved the subtle lessons on Christianity. I seldom read christian books as I find the messages too overpowering, but this was 50/50 storyline and message and handled beautifully.I highly recommend this (as a woman in her 30's) to any age, feel confidant to give this to your teenager, or new Christian friend (or even non believing friends). Well done Brenda Coulter, I will be reading your other titles, as self published I found it clean and tidy, but then I'm not one to gripe over spelling and grammar mistakes (but didn't spot any). Your publisher doesn't know what she was missing by not taking this little literary gem on. less
