review 1: Rebel has a name that fits many young tweens. She is spoiled as her sister points out, but I think Revel just has never had any real responsibility, that is until now. I loved the strength of the characters, wonderful summer read, or middle of the winter to warm up if you live anyplace cold! Rebel knows who she is and what she wants to be, unlike many of our tweens today, but she has a long way to go to make her goal, and learn her lessons along the way.Great book for girls 9-13 or so. Strong characters, settings, story, from beginning, middle, to the end!
review 2: This book has a reading level of 4.4 - first half of fourth grade, making it a perfect fit for my school shelf. But I don't think it will spend much time there! This book is a perfect fit for midd... morele year girls, who might not feel like they fit in the world of girls becoming interested in clothes or boys. Rebel McKenzie is a misfit, a strong personality, and a good friend... and she does it all with her own style. This one is rightfully placed on the Bluebonnet 2014 list. A quick, entertaining read. less
