review 1: What if snowmen didn’t melt and you could play with them regardless of the season? That is the question Snowmen All Year sets out to answer as one little boy describes all the fun things he and his snowman would do together. His snowman loves to see the tigers at the zoo, go on rides at the amusement park, watch fireworks, and even go trick-or-treating. In one particularly adorable and touching scene, the little boy shares his birthday celebration with his snowman. The story ends with the boy’s hope that maybe THIS snow is magic snow, and THIS snowman will be the one to stay with him all year long. This wonderful book captures the simple hopes and wild imaginations of young children perfectly, from the belief in magic to the longing for that lifetime best friend w... moree all wished for. Compared to Snowmen At Christmas and Snowmen at Night, this book is more simplistic in terms of storyline and text, appealing to younger readers. It has fewer and shorter words, but maintains the smooth rhyme rhythm that Caralyn Buehner has mastered. The real treat of Snowmen All Year, however, is Mark Buehner’s ability to provide a feast for the senses through his full-page illustrations, originally done in oil and acrylic. The colors are striking and vibrant, and you can’t help but smile at the cheerful snowman with his golden glow as he confidently struts amidst the bright sun and warm temperatures or dives into a pool wearing swimming goggles. The pictures are so detailed that the viewer can get lost in them. This is a beautiful picture book that is guaranteed to delight readers of all ages and appeal to the limitless imaginations of the little ones.
review 2: I love snowmen, so to think that snowmen could be around all year is quite fun. The pictures are bright and cheery and it is fun to see what a snowman could do if it could be around all year. This book could lead to a fun activity of making a paper snowman and having the students take it's picture doing different things (going to soccer practice, going to the movies, going on a picnic, etc.) and then following it up with a writing activity. less
