review 1: Filled with photographs of an amazing array of math and science themed tattoos, each tattoo is accompanied by an explanation of what that symbol / equation / chemical structure / etc. means, its history, and why the person chose that particular tattoo. The tattoos offer a very human, accessible way to learn about science, math and history – to see it in a much more relatable scope, and to see the love and passion bleeding through that these people have for their chosen field.
review 2: I borrowed this beautifully bound book from the Calarco Library because it was visually appealing and right up my alley discipline-wise. In addition to checking out the wide variety of science and math tattoos (large and small, colorful and simple, intricate and basic, etc
... more.), I ended up reading all of the text to learn a bit about the topics depicted in the tattoos and the people who sport them. I wondered if there was enough material for a full book on science/math ink and apparently there are heck of a lot of scientists and mathematicians who mark degrees earned, passions fed, mysteries solved and unsolved, etc. with a trip to the tattoo studio. less

Great as a coffee table book or for tattoo inspiration. Introduction by Mary Roach!

Some awesome tattoos, wish it went a little more in depth on a few of the topics.

Probably the nerdiest book I've read?
