review 1: This book has it all! Every issue that teenagers could possibly come across in this day and age is included within this heartbreaking novel. There is death, drugs, alcohol, sex, cutting, abuse, and same sex couples. There is pain and a search for oblivion. There is forgiveness and an ending that starts a new beginning. One can only hate that they adore a book that cuts so deep to one's core, and that is exactly what I have done.
review 2: This book is mainly about how this girl named Ellie effected a lot of people after she passed away. The main people are Jake (Ellie's brother), Sarah (Ellie's best friend), and Jessie (Sarah's sister). Ellie died by a drug overdose, Sarah was involved too, but she survived the overdose of pills they had taken. After Sarah was
... morereleased from the hospital, she broke down and started to see a therapist to help her from her lost. Jake went to college before Ellie died. They also had a best friend named Tommy, who was part of their group. Sarah had always loved Jake, but he never wanted her or showed it. Sarah and Tommy were friends with benefits, they messed around but never were a real relationship. Later in the story, Tommy reveals that he and Ellie had slept together after Sarah and him had a big fight. Jake starts missing school and stays with his dad for a little while because of the lost he had. Jessie was dating Ellie but was kept only between them. Jessie falls in love with Ellie, they are girlfriends, and Jessie sees these sketch books Ellie had kept, drawings on how she felt with everyone she knew. Ellie had always tried hitting on her step dad, "Saragent" but he always rejected her and told her she was trying to ruin his marriage. Ellie always wore dark makeup and smoked cigarettes and took anything that made the sadness go away. She also cut herself because she said it makes her feel better. Anyway, Jake and Sarah get together at the end, when Jake realizes Sarah needs him the most. Sarah ends up cutting her wrist, and luckily Jake shows up on time to save her. She turns out to be okay but is sent to a place where people need help and she finally opens up to her therapist and gets the help she needs. She is ready to heal from Ellie's death and Jake is too, sort of. I like this book because the details the author had, made me feel the pain Ellie and Sarah felt. It gave me goosebumps when I read this detail story. I also dislike this book because the way it ended. The author didn't say if Jake and Sarah went to go visit Ellie's grave to "really say goodbye". She could had ended it a little more details about what they were going to do. less
