review 1: I struggled through this story hoping it would pique my excitement soon. It never did. The scenes were a little flat and I found myself reading passages where the scene had changed but my mind hadn't gone along for the ride. I was constantly re-reading passages to try an get my head back tot he point where the author had gone. Thus, my struggle. Try the book, you might like it. It just didn't work for me.
review 2: This is very short story that will leave you thinking about the unhappy life of the the main character Cecile long after you read the final page. As a young woman Cecile meets and falls in love with an older man in Italy. He makes a promise to her that places her life on pause for many years. It is a love story, a story of the accomplishments of a
... more strong woman and a man of honor. Far to short but memorable. less

I enjoyed this short story. It was refreshing to read with vivid imagery and a bittersweet romance.
