review 1: So I set this aside at 1:30 in the morning with the thought that I'd finish it tomorrow. I laid down for about a minute before I had to grab my kindle and finish it. I was that sucked in. It was sad and now I feel slightly depressed to be honest, yet it was a wonderfully written, powerful book. It was hard to read, and I had to keep reminding myself of the time period when I got frustrated that Lily stayed with Jake. It was just hearte-learning, and for awhile I was so rooting for Jake to just grow up. But it became apparent that he never would, and I kept willing Lily to leave. I thought Betty was a great friend, and I was happy with the way the book ended. while it happened so very slowly, I liked how Lily grew into her own person. review 2: Oh my what a great book!!!!! I loved it!!!! So many emotions in a book!!!! This is not my usual type of book, but it didn't matter at all. The writing was perfect and the Heroine of the book amazing. It broke my heart, it made me angry but in the end the book gave me justice. The ending was different but so so right for me. What can I say, I feel that every woman should read it. No matter how everyones life is, there are so many important meanings in the book. I loved the time that the story happened. It makes you appreciate the way things are nowadays and at the same time to wish you were there to experience this way of life. I loved it and I would recommend it to every one!!!!! less
